a vibrant three-day Pongal celebration that beautifully blended tradition, culture, sportsmanship, creativity, and joy. The event gave students a refreshing break from academic routines and brought everyone together to celebrate Tamil culture with enthusiasm and unity.Day 1 – 6/1/26 | Fun Rooted in Tradition 🎉
The first day focused on light-hearted traditional games that encouraged participation, laughter, and bonding.
Nondi & Anjaangal
These classic traditional games tested physical balance, agility, and concentration. Participants hopped forward with determination while the audience cheered them on, making it both competitive and entertaining.
Pot Painting
Pot painting allowed students to express their creativity through traditional art. Using vibrant colors and Pongal-themed designs, participants transformed simple clay pots into beautiful representations of culture and festivity.
Lemon on the Spoon
A test of patience and focus, this event required participants to balance a lemon on a spoon while racing to the finish line. The slightest mistake could change the outcome, making it thrilling to watch.
Sack Race
Filled with laughter and excitement, the sack race brought back childhood memories. Students jumped their way to victory as friends cheered loudly, creating a lively and joyful atmosphere.
Kabaddi
Kabaddi matches showcased teamwork, strategy, and physical endurance. The fast-paced action and tactical moves kept the crowd fully engaged throughout the matches.
This event emphasized coordination and communication. Paired participants ha.d to move in sync to reach the finish line, leading to moments of both humor and teamwork.
Rangoli Competition
Students displayed exceptional creativity by designing intricate rangoli patterns inspired by Pongal themes. The use of vibrant colors and traditional motifs added beauty to the campus.
Tug of War
A true test of strength and unity, this event brought teams together in a fierce yet friendly competition. The collective effort and cheering crowd added to the excitement.
Karumbu Pudi
This traditional game challenged participants’ grip strength and balance while holding sugarcane. It was a crowd favorite that reflected rural traditions and cultural roots.
Day 3 – 8/1/26 | The Grand Finale 🌟🔥
The final day marked the peak of THIRAL ’26 with cultural, competitive, and celebratory events.
Pongal Cooking Competition
Teams prepared authentic Pongal using traditional methods. The event highlighted teamwork, culinary skills, and respect for tradition while spreading the aroma of festive flavors across the campus.
Flash Mob
The flash mob was a surprise element that instantly energized the crowd. The synchronized moves and enthusiastic performance added a modern touch to the traditional celebration.
Uriyadi
One of the most anticipated events, Uriyadi tested participants’ focus, strength, and coordination. Blindfolded participants attempted to break the pot amid cheers and laughter.
Tug of War – Finals
The final match was intense and electrifying, with teams giving their best till the last pull. The display of determination and unity made it one of the highlights of the day.
Lemon on the Spoon – Finals
Finalists competed with great concentration and control, making this simple-looking game surprisingly suspenseful till the end.
Karumbu Pudi – Finals
The finals showcased skilled participants battling it out with strength and balance, making it a thrilling conclusion to the event.
Cultural Performances
The celebration concluded with mesmerizing cultural performances, including dance and music that beautifully portrayed Tamil traditions, talent, and pride.
