EYE DONATION FORTNIGHT CELEBRATION

 A Vision to Gift Sight

Every year, Eye Donation Fortnight is celebrated in India from 25th August to 8th September with the mission of creating awareness about the importance of eye donation and reducing the burden of corneal blindness. This campaign is not just a program—it is a movement of hope, encouraging people to pledge their eyes and bring light into someone else’s life.



This year’s Eye Donation Fortnight was inaugurated with a lamp-lighting ceremony by OUR Respected  District Collector  Durga Moorthi Mam ,DEAN MAM  Dr. K. Santha Arulmozhi mam& Medical Superintendent Sir Dr. R. Gunasekran sir   ,our respected Vice Principal mam Dr P.Kumudha mam,our respected Resident medical officer Dr. M.Leelatharan sir  The lighting of the lamp symbolized the spreading of knowledge, awareness, and the light of vision that eye donation can bring into countless lives.

  The celebration began with a warm welcome address by Dr. Uma Maheshwari mam , Professor & Head of the Department of Ophthalmology






🎭 Co-curricular Activities


To make the Eye Donation Fortnight celebration more engaging and impactful, several co-curricular activities were organized These activities combined creativity with social responsibility, encouraging future doctors to become advocates of awareness.


🖥️ E-Poster Competition


Students designed digital posters filled with facts, slogans, and artwork that highlighted the importance of eye donation. The e-posters were shared on screens across the campus and circulated on social media platforms, reaching a wider audience beyond the college walls.

In today’s digital era, short videos are one of the strongest tools for awareness. Students participated in a reel-making competition, creating powerful, emotional, and myth-busting reels about eye donation. These reels carried messages that could inspire thousands when shared online.

The rangoli competition turned the college courtyard into a colorful gallery of awareness. With themes like “Light the Life”, “Gift of Sight”, and “Donate Eyes – Give Vision”, students used colors and designs to spread hope and positivity



The Eye Donation Fortnight celebrations came to a heartfelt conclusion with an inspiring address by our Respected faculty of Ophthalmology ,Dr.C.Menka Mam, who highlighted the role of young medical professionals in carrying forward the message of eye donation. and  special thanks to our District Collector, for her gracious presence

A deeply touching part of the Eye Donation Fortnight celebration was the recognition of a noble family who donated the eyes of their beloved member.
