Suicide Prevention Day
Introduction:
Hello all, and welcome to another blog by the Literature group of GNMCH. Here, we are going to talk about Suicide Prevention Day, which was on 10th September 2025
The rally:
The day started off with a rally, organised by the HOD of psychiatry department, DR Balasubramanian who was accompanied by our Medical Superintendent, DR R Gunasekaran, on 12th September 2025. Medicos, nurses and doctors were made to proceed in a disciplined fashion from the hospital to the faculty block. It was then followed with a pledge to not aid in or commit any acts of suicide or self-harm.
The slogans:
An Important Note:
While this rally is indeed very important, one can’t ignore the fact that people are dying; friends, family members might commit suicide due to various unknown reasons. They accumulate stress in their minds and fail to let it out. Hence, this leads to DRASTIC DECISIONS. The simplest act a person can do is to listen.
Talk to your friends, your relatives, etc..Listen to what they say, listen to their problems, their sorrows, etc.. You might not save a life directly, but you could help others be happy indirectly.
This is Dhrishith Anandraj, Associate Literature Secretary, GNMCH.
Signing off, until next time.
