INTERNATIONAL WEEK OF DEAF RALLY
“Spreading Awareness, Inspiring Change — International Week of the Deaf Observed with Enthusiasm”
To mark the International Week of the Deaf, the students and faculty organized an inspiring awareness rally emphasizing the importance of communication, inclusion, and care for individuals with hearing impairment. The event took place on September29, with enthusiastic participation from students, staff, and faculty members at NAMAKKAL MEDICAL COLLEGE
🚩 Flagging Off the Rally
The rally was graciously flagged off by our esteemed dignitaries honorable Dean mam Dr.K Santha Arulmozhi mam and ourRespected Medical superintendant Dr.R.Gunasekran sir ,Respected chief of ENT department Dr.Kavidha mam who delivered an encouraging message on raising awareness about hearing health and supporting the deaf community. The students carried creative placards, posters ,slogans spreading awareness about early detection and prevention of hearing loss.
🎤 Inspiring Speeches
The event opened with an insightful address by Chief Dr. Kavidha Ma’am shared her thoughts on the crucial role of healthcare professionals in spreading awareness about auditory health
Following Respected Dr.Prasanna Kumar sir Associate Professor of ENT who explained how effective communication builds bridges between people and helps in delivering better healthcare
Respected Dr. Janani Priya Ma’am, Assistant professor of ENT who highlighted the importance of empathy and awareness toward individuals with hearing disabilities.
Finally, Dean Ma’am Dr. K. Shantha Arulmozhi motivated students with her encouraging words, appreciating their active participation and commitment to community healt

A major highlight of the event was a captivating sign language performance by students,
Harshini .DC and Yaswanthi .S showcasing the beauty and power of non-verbal communication.
Their presentation, themed “Sign Language is Our Strength,” effectively spread awareness about the importance of learning sign language to bridge the communication gap with the deaf community
The International Week of the Deaf (IWD) is celebrated globally during the last week of September to raise awareness about the rights, culture, and contributions of the deaf community. It emphasizes equal access to education, employment, healthcare, and communication for individuals with hearing impairment.
This year’s observance reinforced the belief that sign language unites us beyond sound and that inclusion begins with awareness
