ANAT FLAIR
A Flair based on Abdomen PBL (Problem based learning) conducted by THE DEPARTMENT OF ANATOMY . The students of the 1st year participated enthusiastically.
Our beloved Dean mam Dr. Shantha Arulmozhi, the HOD of Anatomy Dr. S. Dhivya mam, the HOD of biochemistry Dr. Leena Devi mam, Associate Professor of anatomy Dr. Nandhini mam , Assistant Professor of anatomy Dr.Shanthi mam, Assistant professor of anatomy Dr. Nithya mam, and all the other faculties of anatomy Dr.Muthalagi mam and Dr. Anitha mam, all joined us for this academic feast.
The Chief Guest of honour , Respected HOD of Surgery Dr. Jeeva mam graced the occasion with her presence.
The Anatomy Flair commenced off with a warm welcome address given by Dr.A.M.Nithya Mam, Assistant Professor, NMCH.
There were a total of 10 enthusiastic teams who put immense efforts to make this Anat Flair-2 an unique event!
TEAM-1
Team-1 played a role play based on RENAL CALCULI .It started off with a patient coming to the clinic with pain in lower back and they confirm it by taking lab tests. The tests show a serious condition after which it's cured by doing a surgery of percutaneous nephrolithotomy. They also explained the anatomy of kidney by using chart works.
TEAM-2
A naturalistic play was done by team 2 based on APPENDICITIS in which a school boy suffered from appendicitis as he had consumed more junk foods from outside and it was identified by doctors by taking UV and finally he was cured by performing appendectomy.
TEAM-3
Team 3 discussed about GASTRIC CARCIMOMA...They presented a play about a chain smoker who has a gastric cancer .They showed the pictures of PET scan in PPT.As a whole this play helped us learn new things related to gastric carcinoma.
TEAM -4Team 4 enacted a dazzling role play on SIGMOID VOLVULUS,.They presented anatomy about sigmoid colon by powerpoint presentation and demonstrated it on board.
TEAM-5
Team 5 explained on the effects of the DUODENAL ULCER, the causes and the anatomy of the small intestine which was explained as a general discussion among the interns and the condition finally lead to perforation and it was cured by the surgery.
TEAM-6Team 6 emphasized on the ACUTE PANCREATITIS by acting a role play on pancreatitis and explained in an astonishing manner by explaining the anatomy of the pancreas by using chart works and models and finally the patient was cured by giving analgesics and since this is acute pancreatitis , surgery is not needed.
TEAM 7
Team 7 did a play on SPLENIC INJURY. They demonstrated a road traffic accident scene followed by splenic removal by surgeons.They emphasized on the detailed anatomy of spleen with hand made charts.
TEAM 8
A play about ACUTE CHOLECYSTITIS was done by Team 8.They did a creative play on YouTube vlogging and conveyed the importance of avoiding junk foods which can result in cholecystitis.They also formed a human chain demonstrating the passage of bile through extra hepatic biliary apparatus.They presented a video of ultrasound scanning which showed cholecystitis followed by which the doctor advised cholecystectomy.
TEAM -9
Team 9 demonstrated on HAEMORRHOIDS in which a role play was conducted and they confirmed it by taking tests such as digital rectal test and anascopy and the anatomy of the anal canal was explained by using chart works and clay models and finally the patient was cured.
TEAM -10
They did a spectacular role play recreating a clinical posting scenario . Their topic was portal hypertension due to CIRRHOSIS of liver . They went a step ahead and explained about the difference between portal hypertension due to cirrhotic and non-cirrhotic causes . Team 10 taught us how to create a dramatic role play yet effectively explain the given topic as well!

Education is not just about classrooms, lectures, chalkboards, notebooks and pens. Education is about shaping the students minds to prepare them for the future.
The evolution of teaching methods has led to the understanding that certain ways of teaching yield better results and more knowledge retention.
Game based learning is the latest invention in the education industry, it has been welcomed by students and teachers alike.
Some may say that game based learning is just extra steps towards education, but it couldn't be farther from the truth. GAME BASED LEARNING PROVIDES INNOVATIVE AND INTERACTIVE WAYS TO CHANGE THE ENTIRE APPROACH TOWARDS EDUCATION, LETTING THE STUDENTS ENJOY THE LEARNING PROCESS IN A WAY THAT'S RELEVANT TO THEM.
