DISSECTION COMPETITION 2K23
Unveiling Knowledge: The Fascinating World of Dissection Competitions in GOVERNMENT MEDICAL COLLEGE NAMAKKAL.
FIRST TIME IN TAMILNADU UNDERGRADUATES DOING COMPETITIVE DISSECTION.
The objective of the competition was to enhance the anatomical knowledge and dissection skills of the students through a challenging and educational experience.
THE ORGANIZING COMMITTEE:
HOD of Anatomy Department
Dr. S. DHIVYA mam
Assistant professors and other professors
Dr. V. SHANTHI mam,
Dr. A. M. NITHIYA mam,
Dr. C. ANITHA mam,

The event began with the announcement of the themes and the rules and regulations governing the competition.
To ensure fairness, students were allowed to choose chits to determine their dissection subjects. The topics chosen were based on same levels of difficulty to maintain uniformity among all the participating groups. The topic given was "CAROTID TRIANGLE"
A total of 100 enthusiastic students formed five group and everyone actively participated in the competition.

This team displayed the carotid triangle beautifully. They were a perfect demonstration of teamwork and coordination and hence dissected successfully .
TABLE 2
This team brought life to the cadaver by painting the given region . It was definitely innovative and something no other team did.
TABLE 3
One could look at their dissection forever and still not get tired . It was that perfect . And the eye- catching labelling of the parts using small placards made it all .

All the five teams displayed remarkable dedication and understanding of their respective subjects and presented their findings to the panel of judges. These events allowed students to delve into the intricacies of the human body and gain insights that textbooks alone cannot provide. By observing, touching, and dissecting, students bridge the gap between the theory and practice, developing a more profound appreciation for the complexity of the human anatomy.
The judging panel consists of external experts from the field of anatomy. Two rounds of judgements were

Dissection competitions are typically evaluated through a combination of objective criteria and subjective judgment.
The students' dissections were carefully evaluated based on the quality of the dissection, which included factors such as Anatomical Accuracy, Dissection Technique, Structural Presentation, Teamwork and Collaboration ,Problem-Solving Skills, Ethical Considerations, Time Management,Creativity and Critical Thinking, Adherence to Guidelines, Affective domains contributed to the evaluation criteria.
JUDGE'S SUBJECTIVE ASSESSMENT: While many aspects of evaluation are objective, judges also provide a subjective assessment based on their experience and expertise. This can include evaluating participants' overall approach, problem-solving strategies, and the level of enthusiasm and engagement they exhibit.
The judges expressed their appreciation for the extraordinary efforts of the students, and remarked that the level of dissection performed by the graduate students was truly astonishing. Inspired by their passion and dedication, the students left a lasting impression on the judging panel.
